Nicole “Niki” Martell started working as a law clerk for Don Pumphrey, Jr. in January of 2011, after volunteering for a year at the Leon County Public Defender’s Office. She took a short leave to spend the summer of 2011 expanding upon her experience in the criminal justice system as an certified legal intern for the State Attorney’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Niki received her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Business Management from the University of Florida in 2009. She is in her third year of law school at Florida State University and will be graduating in Spring 2012. At the law school, Niki is involved in the Dispute Resolution Society, serving as Treasurer for the 2010-2011 school year; the Student Bar Association; and LitiGators.

On the academic front, she is in the process of working on a paper regarding Florida’s death penalty and jurors’ discretion in imposing the death penalty. In her personal time, Niki enjoys running, cooking, scrapbooking and going to the beach with her fiancé and dogs.
